We are the first dragon boat club in Maine. Join us on the water at Lake Side Norway to learn a new skill, have fun, and become part of a team!
Mission
Maine Dragon Boat Club will foster compassion, a sense of community, a physical challenge, and competition in the state of Maine through the sport of dragon boating.
Vision
Maine Dragon Boat Club will strive to provide education, training, and wellness promotion in our community. We will create an inclusive environment where people young and old, of all fitness levels and abilities can unite as a team. We will create opportunities for cancer survivors to take part in dragon boat programs for exercise and support.
Guiding Principles
Compassion
Our initial focus will be on breast cancer survivors and all cancer survivors, men and women. We believe that by working as a team we can have a powerful impact on healing to provide emotional support and wellness. Programs for Veterans as well as adaptive programs for mentally and physically challenged individuals will also be supported.
Community
We hope to build strong communities by promoting fitness, teamwork, and leadership among youth, adults, and seniors of all backgrounds, and support school groups, camps, and businesses We will also bring cultural awareness about dragon boating and dragon boat festivals.
Challenge
Maine Dragon Boat Club will strive to provide educational and physical training for a variety of paddlers and experience levels including Veterans, physically disabled, and mentally challenged individuals and their family members.
Competition
We will support those who want to be competitive dragon boat paddlers through competitions.

The exhilarating paddling experience provides many fitness benefits.
It is a great “core-specific” workout.
Increases cardiovascular fitness
Strength trains primary muscle groups such as back muscles, shoulders, abs and obliques, hips, thighs, chest, and neck!
Improves coordination and increased awareness of body movements
Reduces stress levels and improves self-esteem
Increases energy and improves mood and body image
